Upon entering Greta’s home, Greta introduced the cornucopia of food she prepared; among the incredible home-style comfort foods included sumptuous elote, spicy guacamole, slow-cooked beans, and melt in your mouth beef/chicken. Students sat with Greta around a snug campfire in her backyard as they ate and joked with their professor. Anthony revealed his hidden passion for massages as he went around the circle cracking students’ backs and eventually Greta’s. Greta taught students how to play hopscotch as they stumbled upon Greta’s homemade hopscotch set for her granddaughters. As students marveled at the fire, Greta recalled how she waited thirty minutes in a dark parking lot to buy the metal fire-pit off a Craigslist listing. At the end of the night, students helped Greta clean up and gave her a hug before heading back to campus. Students thoroughly enjoyed the event and Greta said that if students did not mind driving so far, she’d love to host a similar event next year.
